As the salvage excavations of the CEA advance, a rich collection
of artefacts comes to light both in the zones of habitation and the necropoli.
The study of these pieces is undertaken by specialist already familiar
with the collections of the Alexandrian Graeco-Roman Museum. Laboratory
analyses as well as investigative tours of the ancient workshops around
the shores of Lake Mariout have given rise to new information. The results
fill chapters within the CEA publications or are the object of a volume
in themselves, as is the case for faience objects (see Etude Alexandrines
vol. 4) and will be for metal artefacts.
